Pearls for Valentine's Day

No Comments by root

One of the most beautiful things on earth is the lovely, glowing luster of a pearl. They are a rare, perfect gift from nature that will make the most perfect Valentine’s Day gift of all. From the Renaissance to the modern runways, from ancient Greek times to modern auction houses, pearls are a symbol of lasting beauty, perfection and wealth. “I’m determined to make this the Valentine’s Day she never forgets. This is what I know my husband is thinking. We just celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary and he knows I love pearls so much! I got just about everything a girl could want, and it’s always hard to shop for me, but my husbands loves to get me jewellery. He always says that he loves how stunning I look when I dress up to go out with him. I believe all your partners are saying and thinking the same:"...I want a gift as beautiful and special as her- nothing but pearls will do. I can’t wait to see her eyes light up when she sees them.” This is a very lovely set that we will have for sale very soon.

“Treat yo’ self”

- Valentine's Day just around the corner: Move over, Cupid. These days, Valentine’s Day is about so much more than romance. People are getting increasingly creative with how they celebrate the day and devoting it to other passions, like female bonding, pet pampering, and treating themselves. The focus of the holiday is widening to encompass connections of all kinds, including platonic ones. What will be yo' thing? Look at our more diverse and unique gifting options for inspiration.

- Celebrating friendship Galentine’s Day (another idea introduced on Parks and Recreation) has become an essential part of Valentine’s Day celebrations. Each year, women use 13 February (or Valentine’s Day itself) to celebrate their female friendships, throwing parties and exchanging cards and gifts with their best buds. The related trends around female empowerment, self-care, and self-gifting could fuel even more Galentine’s interest this year. The Galentine’s phenomenon has helped expand what Valentine’s Day can be. People are also celebrating with their kids and coworkers, even gifting teachers with small tokens of appreciation.

Halloween is here! I can only say that the Halloween memento is becoming more and more part of the party calendar every year. 20 years ago, Halloween was very small in the UK in comparison to how big this celebration, particularly for children has been in the US. Now this is a reason to party, love and watch scary movies! Family time and kick off the party season. I personally love all the celebrations and although I am not into costume myself, I love to see people making the effort when they go to theme parties at this time of the year. Saying that... I am going out tonight to meet with friends from different parts of the world who lives in London. Tonight will be all about El dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. According to Wikipedia, this is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican ancestry living in other places, especially the United States. It is acknowledged internationally in many other cultures. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The holiday is sometimes called Día de los Muertos in Anglophone countries, a back-translation of its original name, Día de Muertos. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a public holiday. Prior to Spanish colonization in the 16th century, the celebration took place at the beginning of summer. Gradually, it was associated with October 31, November 1 and November 2 to coincide with the Western Christian triduum of Allhallowtide: All Saints' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using calaveras, aztec marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. Visitors also leave possessions of the deceased at the graves. On October 31, All Hallows Eve, the children make a children's altar to invite the angelitos (spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit. November 1 is All Saints Day, and the adult spirits will come to visit. November 2 is All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives. The three-day fiesta is filled with marigolds, the flowers of the dead; muertos (the bread of the dead); sugar skulls; cardboard skeletons; tissue paper decorations; fruit and nuts; incense, and other traditional foods and decorations. Hope you all now are in the party mood. I sure am.

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Every piece of jewellery has a story. I want to share with you these stories. The pieces we are introducing have been made by a dear friend of mine. She is a very hard working woman with a great talent. Her inspiration is from the colours, The Earth, the sky, the fire and the sea. She loves gems and beads as well as playing around with different materials. Each piece has something unique coming from inspirational women all over the world. I find her pieces relevant, innovative and inspiring. Let me know what you think. Browse for the different pieces on our Gifts for Her/ Fashion Jewellery section. I have already picked some I want to wear, particularly during the Christmas celebrations. Happy shopping!!!
